What stays on your device

Your progress on each puzzle (the tiles you placed, hard mode, whether you pinned the poem) is saved in your browser's local storage. It does not leave your device unless you post a poem.

Posting, liking and reporting

When you post, like or report a poem, we set a cookie named fridgle_aid that holds a random identifier. It lets us allow one poem per person per day and one like per poem. It is not linked to a name or email address, and it lasts up to 400 days.

Apart from analytics (see below), browsing and playing set no cookies. We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't sell data.

Poems are public

A posted poem, the puzzle it belongs to, and the optional name and place you type are stored and shown on the wall and on the poem's own page, where search engines can find them. Please don't put personal information in the name or place fields.

Network data

To stop spam and abuse we count requests per IP address. These counters are deleted after about two days. When you report a poem, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address with the report, so several reports from one network count once.

Moderation

Posted poems are checked automatically, first against word lists and then by an AI model (Anthropic's Claude, reached through Vercel AI Gateway), which receives only the poem text and its language. Some poems are also reviewed by a person.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they use. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<ID> that last up to two years, and Google receives your IP address, browser details and the pages you visit. Google may process this data in the United States and keeps it for up to 14 months. You can block these cookies in your browser or install Google's opt-out add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

Service providers

Fridgle is hosted by Vercel and stores data with Supabase in the United States. Vercel BotID helps block automated abuse. These providers process data on our behalf, so data may be stored or processed outside your country.

How long we keep data

Posted poems stay until they are removed. Rate-limit counters are kept for about two days. The fridgle_aid cookie lasts up to 400 days, or until you clear it.

Your choices and rights

You can clear the cookie and local storage in your browser settings at any time. To have a poem removed or to ask about your data, email privacy@fridgle.app and include a link to the poem. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, or to complain to a data protection authority. We reply within 30 days.

Children

Fridgle is made for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

Changes

If what we collect changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
